New Spinning Wheel!

I finally broke down and got a Schacht Sidekick travel wheel today from The Spinnery in Gatlinburg! My husband took there on my birthday but I just wasn't sure I should.  Well, we went back today and he got it for me.

It spins like a dream.  It  the one on the right with the aqua wheel.  It folds up and comes with a carry strap so I can take it with me to guild and hopefully spinning classes someday.

The other wheel is my beautiful Majacraft Alpaca wheel (also from The Spinnery).  She is my sole wheel - spins like a dream and just a little sweetheart.  She does fold down and has a handle but she is heavy.  A bit hard on my back and my hips trying to carry.  She is a homebody and I guess her little friend will be the run around town girl.....  They are bonding!

If anyone spins, weaves, knits or crochets - they need to make a trip to The Spinnery in Gatlinburg.  Nancy is owner and she is wonderful.  I have known her a few years now and I have been in her shop several times - never does she push or pressure you  to buy even when I don't buy anything or just a roving to spin.   She has let me try out wheels and spin for hours until find what fits me.  I feel like I am with a friend.
Saundra is great - she is so helpful and fun.  So talented!  They are having alot of classes - worth the couple hours to drive there.

Finally getting caught up!

I am sorry that it has been awhile since I have updated!

We went to Williamsburg,VA last week - the gardens were beautiful.  I enjoyed it so much that it made me want to plant flowers and heirloom veggies! Came home with a great book (autographed - so  special) by the gardener for the Williamsburg gardens.  I think the highlight of the trip was getting to talk to him about the plants in his garden.

I took advantage of the cloudy, cool Saturday we had this week and over did it planting flowers, now I am paying for it everytime I move...lol.

The hummingbirds are back - I love watching them.  I have to admit - I did sit and watch the birds on Monday - my Mother's Day present to me.  I hope everyone had a great Mother's Day!

There are some new things in the shop:

Believe or not, now is the time to think about projects for Fall & Christmas!

We already have some great fall prints but the above 3 bolts just came in.  Great time to plan table toppers, place mats or a cut fall wall hanging. There are several coordinating marbles that go with them.

I love birds especially Redbirds!  Already had one quilter buy to make a tree skirt!  Wouldn't a table cloth or place mats be wonderful!
The Fall & Christmas prints are only $5.99 yard - Great quality fabric and Great prices!

Mettler Silk Finish Cotton Thread Display!!!  These are variegated threads - great for applique and/or machine quilting.  Two sizes to choose from.

Coming soon - 1930's Timeless Treasures Fabrics!!!  Been searching for some 30's fabrics for a while at a good price - I finally got the call today about these!!!

Block of the month is going good!  Had one quilter bring by the first 3 blocks to show me - they were so beautiful!  I can't wait to see more!  I have the next 2 blocks ready for pick up.  I have got to get busy - I am behind!

Now alittle show & tell:

Chris Duncan is making an adorable Whinie the Pooh baby quilt - how cute is this!  I know many of you will remember Chrisy from Stitches from the Heart!  I enjoyed talking to her so much today!

New Block of the Month!

I finally decided on what fabric I wanted for my block of the month quilt.  I got the first two blocks made today and up on the wall for you to see.  I used the Set B plexiglass templetes from Marti Michell.  Again, my pictures don't do it justice - they were taken with my phone.  Britney has got to find her memory card!!!

My fabric choice for my quilt - you choose the fabric you want for your quilt!!!

The shop got in some beautiful new fabrics this week!!! Flutter & Flowers by Marcus Brothers for Independent Quilt Shop Only.  There is a great pattern you can get free with purchase.  My picture does not do it justice (sorry it was taken with my phone).  Fabric's retail price is $10.99 yard but it is only $5.99 yard at the shop!!!!

Also coming:  108" muslin quilt backing.  New Accuquilt dies - hexagon, stars, circles & Alex Anderson's baskets.
Don't forget the March specials!

Senior Center Spring Craft Festival

Last Saturday was the spring craft show at the McMinn Senior Center.  I hate to say it was a very slow day, I think mainly due the the heavy rains we had in the morning.  But we it still was a fun day - got to meet some great venders.
One of our quilters attended the show with her daughter and won a door prize!  Carol was supprised when her name was called out - it was great.  She won a great Easter basket that was donated by a vender.

We had a great booth! Don't you just love the sign!
