March Specials!

We are already into March - time is going so fast this year!!!!  I am so thankful for the old and the new friends I have seen this year.  It has been so much fun just catching up and seeing what everyone has been making.  Love the show and tell, don't you!

Starting in March the Fat Quarter Jar is back!  Buy a fat quarter, put your name on it, put it in the jar for a chance to win all the fat quarters in the jar.  At the first of the next month, a name will be drawn and the winner will be announced.    Each month is a different color.  You can enter as many as you want - I will put one in from the shop also.  We will start March out with GREEN, of course - for St. Patrick's Day.

It was so great seeing Marilyn's quilt finished!
I have decided to bring out that block of the month out of storage.  You get a free pattern each month with  purchase (limit one) - so you can use your fabric stash to build this quilt, then set it together how you want it.    The cutting directions are on the patterns (paper templates) or you can purchase the plastic templates to rotary cut with - they are great to use and you will get a 20% off them.     If you made this quilt when I originally did this quilt...years ago...you may have the templates and can use them.  Two months you will get 2 patterns so we can finish the quilt in a year!

Should you decide to purchase all the fabric from the shop at one time to make the queen size quilt - you will get 15% off the fabric. You choose the fabrics then  I will do a paste up sheet to make it easy for you to know where the fabric goes in the quilt. You will get a free pattern each month with no purchase including the complete setting directions.  When you get ready for the backing - remind me - you get 15% off the backing for this quilt, too!!

We can have a show & tell party January or February of next year to show how different they look! That will also help us finish the quilt!

Finally, we wanted to have a different special each month and run it the whole month since the shop is only open 2 days a week (but these specials are good if you need to make an appt to come on a Sat or another day).

March Specials:

I love patterns and have an over abundance of them now - ALL INSTOCK PATTERNS will be 25% for March

So many quilt patterns using jelly rolls and charm squares - ALL  JELLY ROLLS AND CHARM SQUARES  will be 10% off for March!

See you in March!

Couple items in shop!

First, Fresh from the Clothesline by Darlene Zimmerman. Bright, springtime quilts - Darlene Zimmerman always has fun patterns to brighten the spirits. Great with 30's fabrics (which I have on the way the shop!).  I love seeing clothes hanging on the clothesline in the spring!  This book has just been released!
I love chickens!  So when Accuquilt came out with the Fowl die, of course, I had to order it.  Just apply your Steam A Seam to the back and cut out the chickens - press on your fabric and applique.  Or you can cut out with out fusible and hand applique - your choice.  There is a free pattern on the accuquilt website to go with the pattern (www.accuquilt.com)  How fun it will be looking for that perfect feather fabric to mimic chicken feathers.  I really think one in polka dots would be adorable.  Okay, I am also think about putting one on front of a tote bag - would that be a great grocery store bag!  So much FUN!

Sorry my pictures are alittle off - had to take with a phone camera - Britney is sick and I just could not wait to get to get the pictures uploaded for you to see.

A Quilt from the Past

I got an e-mail the other day from a friend, Marilyn, with a picture of a quilt attached.  She had gotten it quilted and could not remember where she got the kit.
I knew the minute I saw it - it was a block of the month from my shop - we had done this one over 10 years ago - probably about 13 years.

I got one to quilt too - (really I have 3 different ones to do)!  Now I want my done, so as soon as I get a couple baby quilts done - I am going to load one and get busy.  Maybe I can get a Christmas present for someone done early.

I think maybe I should bring that block of the month back and we should do it again!!  It was so easy and so much fun.

Show & Tell!

Happy Thursday, Everyone!!!

We have had some great show & tell today!

First, Carol brought in one of her first blocks using her new Accuquilt Cutting System!!!  She just got her machine last week and has made an Hourglass block using only one die.

She also brought in a beautiful quilt using big squares - I love purple & green together!
Pictured here with her mom, Ivory.
Carol's mom, Ivory (don't you love her name), brought in two hand appliqued quilts - the design the block by using a leaf from her yard.  They are both so beautiful and she plans to handquilt them.  Can't wait to see them when she is finish.

Want it to Sparkle!

Want to add alittle sparkle to your quilts or other sewing?!?  Just got in Angelina Fibers are here.  These "hot fix" fibers may be heat bonded together to produce a non-woven type of fabric.
So many ways to use - make the snow sparkle, stars twinkle or maybe a little glistening of dew on the grass.
Into spinning - add alittle to your art batts!  How fun to spin!

Accuquilt & Scraps!

I love the Accuquilt!!!!  How many of you have a box, bag or basket of scraps in your closet or sewing room???  After getting the Accuquilt and the 12" block dies, I decided to see what I could make with some of them.
So first I lowered my ironing board to where I could sit down (alot easier on my back!)  Started pressing and putting in stacks according to the size of the scraps.  I then looked at the patterns that can be made with the 12" block dies and picked out the Sawtooth Star.  I love this pattern and decided to make it just as scrappy as I could.
I choose all the light prints for the backgrounds and the darks for the center and star points.  I did not stack as many on the die as I could have because I wanted to get use to cutting with it - Wow! - it was so fast!  Plus the points are cut off the triangles so it fit together so easy.  Any imperfections with points was not the cutting but my sewing.... I got in such a hurry to see the next one!

I also cut out 2 1/2" strips with the Accuquilt.  I plan to make a queen size quilt and use the strips for a scrappy binding.
If you have never saw an Accuquilt Cutting System (www.accuquilt.com)  - drop by the shop and see how it works!  Got a special going on for the month of February.  The Accuquilt Cutting system is usually  $349 but during February you can buy one for $269.95!  Comes with a mat & die to get you started.  Plus when you buy your Accuquilt from us - you will get 25% off your dies anytime you buy one at the shop!
You can call me at 423-507-1301 if you have any questions.

A Few New Patterns & Books

Got a few new patterns & books in the shop:
I wish I had time to make them all!!!!

I love Show & Tell!!!

I just love show & tell and I know everyone else does too!  It is so much fun when someone brings in something that they have made for us to see.
Mary made this beautiful quilt.  It is a snail's trail pattern done in such bright, happy fabrics.  Can't wait to see how she hand quilts it!

Connie is doing a great project each month.  We were so happy when she brought her Easter wallhanging to show us.  She does such a great job at paper piecing!!!

I really enjoyed Laura & Shirley coming by.  Laura came another day and spent a few hours with me me.  We enjoyed knitting together.  She is working on a couple classes for the shop including a sock knitting class!  As soon as we get them schedule, will pass on the info!

Yellow, Blue & Green Quilt Makes if Feel like Spring!

Here is a Take 5 done up in the beautiful Maywood Roses fabrics.  We the fabric in the blue & yellow or the deep pink & green print.  The quilt reminds me of spring.  The pattern is easy to cut and piece or you can really get it done fast by using the pre-cut kits that are in the shop.
We have the Take 5 kits in Maywood Roses, Maywood Luna II (which is the brown & pink that was pictured a few weeks back) and also in a beautiful batik fabrics.
The back of the yellow quilt has the Rose stripe with a yellow on each side, making it a reversible quilt!.
I also just had to have Britney take a picture with the flowers that are already blooming in the yard.

The kits come with 20 precut blocks and the pattern.  Great if you want to get right to the piecing or if you are a beginner.
